Erin Shriver, a Sarasota-based textile and contemporary artist, is embarking on a provocative art project with a philanthropic twist. “The goal may morph as I create this exhibition, but the idea is to tell a story about gun violence."
Erin plans to donate the profit from the sale of her “Triggered” art pieces to a variety of nonprofit organizations that fund mental healthcare and gun violence prevention programs.
Ultimately, the aim of "Triggered" is to bring awareness to gun violence, socioeconomic disadvantages and how that plays a role, and how to best educate young people to reduce all types of violent crimes — especially those committed with guns.
I want to start a conversation that gets people thinking about how we can do better for our communities and the psychological, emotional and even geographical divisions between us.
